Fears and Night Lights

Wolf, head in clay and wood! bArtARt

The wolf is a fascinating and dangerous animal at the same time. It does not belong to fantasy: it populates our lands and our dreams. It is nocturnal, wary, social. An ancestral figure of fear, we encounter it in fairy tales since we were children, always among the “bad guys”. In this sculpture the wolf literally transforms into a night light. His gaping mouth, frozen in time, comes to life as darkness falls, becoming a living presence. Thus, its hunting environment—the night—enters our homes, in a contrast that combines fear and beauty, ferocity and quiet. The wolf is an ancient, fascinating and feared presence. It does not belong to the realm of fantasy: it still inhabits our lands and, always, our dreams. It is a nocturnal creature, wary, social—a shadow that moves silently at the edge of the light. An ancestral figure of fear, the wolf has been with us since childhood, where in fairy tales it plays the role of the “bad guy”. In this sculpture, however, its role is transformed: the matter becomes light, the beast becomes a lantern. As darkness falls, his gaping mouth lights up, and his wild spirit creeps into our homes. It is a symbolic return to the night, to the instinctive and irrational part that each of us holds within ourselves. A fragile balance between fear and beauty, between shadow and glare.
